A 74-year-old man was killed Friday morning in a wreck on U.S. 11.
Etowah County Coroner Michael Head said the accident happened at 11:10 a.m. near the 188 mile marker on U.S. 11. James Dunston of Steele was traveling north on the highway in his 1996 Ford Taurus when the car left the roadway.
The vehicle traveled approximately 300 feet before striking a tree. Dunston was pronounced dead on the scene.
Ivalee and Attalla firefighters, Alabama State Troopers and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office responded.
