Phil Ellsworth / ESPN Images(PITTSBURGH) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will undergo surgery to partially repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, ESPN reports.
A league source told ESPN the operation is more of a “cleanup” instead of a full repair on Roethlisberger’s knee, which generally results in a faster recovery.
The quarterback was injured Sunday in the first half of the Steelers’ 30-15 loss against the Miami Dolphins.
Roethlisberger will miss next Sunday’s game when the Steelers face the New England Patriots, according to ESPN. It’s unclear how much total game time he’ll miss while recovering after the surgery.
