Stormfront Brings Heavy Rainfall, High Winds, Power Outages and Downed Trees to Cherokee County

Heavy rainfall led to a heavy workload for area fire departments – and various other emergency personnel across Cherokee County with saturated ground and high winds leading to a large number of downed trees.  Saturday’s stormfront dumped more than five inches of rain on the area with most of that being concentrated in the northern portion of the county.

There was a widespread power outage affecting much of Centre Saturday night, and a large number of calls continued to come in to local fire departments, regarding trees blocking roadways, all the way through mid-day Sunday.

Motorists are still cautioned to exercise caution and slow down today – and watch for standing water, tree limbs, and possibly even trees across the roadway, especially in less traveled areas.
