A portion of Alabama Highway 35, just north of Highway 273 in Blanche, was shut down for several hours on Saturday night as crews worked to remove an 18 wheeler that had left the roadway and rolled over onto its side. According to reports, the driver of the big rig was unhurt. The Broomtown Fire Department, Alabama State Troopers, Cherokee County EMA Officials and a cleanup crew from Fagan’s wrecker service responded to the scene.
It took well over five hours to remove the vehicle and clear the road of debris, however the payload – a shipment of frozen chicken tenders – remained by the roadside. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
The road was reopened at around 1:00 Monday afternoon.
