Strong first half leads Dade County past Cedar Bluff

CEDAR BLUFF – Dade County senior quarterback Makinley Everett completed 12-of-19 pass attempts for 192 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolverines past Cedar Bluff 44-13 in area high school football action on Friday.

Dade County (1-1) scored four first-quarter touchdowns to take a 26-0 lead. The Wolverines had a pair of 1-yard runs, a 37-yard interception return for a score, and an Everett 35-yard touchdown pass.

The Wolverines struck for two more touchdowns on runs of 10 and 8 yards in the second quarter to take a 38-0 advantage at halftime.

Everett threw his second touchdown pass on a 2-yard score in the third quarter before Cedar Bluff (1-3) finally got on the scoreboard. Quarterback Jacob Burleson had a 2-yard run in the third quarter. Nick Clifton’s extra point made the score 44-7. Bucky Leek had a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final.

Leek led the Tigers with 68 yards on six carries. Clifton added 48 yards on 14 carries.

Cedar Bluff travels to North Sand Mountain on Friday.
