Strong Thunderstorms Roll Through Cherokee County For A Second Straight Day

For the second straight day, strong thunderstorms rolled across Cherokee County bringing torrential rains, high winds and small hail.

Cherokee County EMA reported trees down in several locations to include Alabama Highway 68 and Alabama Highway 9 in Cedar Bluff, County Road 121 in Cedar Bluff, County Road 921 & County Road 46, County Road 131 in Cedar Bluff, Williamson Street in Cedar Bluff, McElrath & Cedar Street in Cedar Bluff, County Road 109 in the Tucker’s Chapel Community and trees with power lines down were reported in the Tates Chapel Community.

EMA reported trees falling on homes on Armstrong Road in Cedar Bluff, Lawrence Street in Cedar Bluff and on Keener Drive in Leesburg, and no injuries were reported.

Numerous reports of small hail came from Sand Rock, Centre and Cedar Bluff and widespread power outages were reported across Cedar Bluff and Leesburg.

Minor flooding was also reported on Park Street in Centre where the roadway was deemed impassable and on County Road 28 in Forney.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
