Suspect in High Speed Chase Slams into Police Cruiser

A 47 year old Trion resident in Chattooga County Georgia – Darren Allan Vincent – has been charged with child molestation and exploitation in connection with the multi-state roundup of individuals that involved the GBI, federal, state and local authorities.  Vincent also faces charges in Floyd County, following a high-speed pursuit ending in a crash with a police cruiser.

According to Floyd County Jail records Vincent is now behind bars charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, speeding, reckless driving, aggressive driving, and driving on the wrong side of the road in connection with the Friday morning incident.

Georgia State Patrol reports show Vincent was fleeing from police in a Toyota Camry and was traveling northbound in the southbound lane.  Another Floyd County officer was sitting stationary in the southbound lane, blocking traffic when the Camry crashed into the patrol vehicle.

The officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
