At approximately 1 a.m. Friday, a subject led a DeKalb Deputy on another chase which ended with the subject in jail.

The chase started last night while a Deputy parked at Buttram’s Crossroads area of Sylvania. The deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle, which soon took off at a high rate of speed.

During the pursuit, the subject tried to ram a Jackson County Deputy, and rammed the front of the DeKalb County Deputy’s car.

The chase eventually concluded when the subject’s vehicle wrecked into a ditch as he crossed the intersection of Highways 71 and 40 in Jackson County.

The driver, Jonathan Robbins (25 of Sylvania) received charges of Attempting to Elude, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Endangerment (x4), Third Degree Criminal Mischief, and Third Degree Assault (x2). Robbins is also on hold for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and is currently being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “I’m proud of our deputy’s dedication to bringing this pursuit to an end safely and bringing the subject to justice.”

“We take these chases very seriously. It puts our citizens and deputies in unnecessary danger and will not be tolerated. I’d also like to thank the Sylvania Police Department, Henagar Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance,” said the sheriff.
