Talladega Man Killed In Two Vehicle Crash

A two-vehicle crash at 12:42 a.m. Friday claimed the life of a Talladega man.

Terence Deon Welch, 34, was killed when the 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier he was driving struck a 2006 Ford F-150. Welch, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

Welch was transported to University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Welch was attempting to elude an Alabama State Trooper that had stopped him for a traffic violation on Interstate 65.

He continued through Warrior on U.S. 31 and subsequently lost control of his vehicle before striking the Ford F-150.  The driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured.

The crash occurred on U.S. 31 near mile marker 297, one mile north of Warrior. Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate.
