Teenager Caught with Marijuana at Sylvania High School

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, a 17 year old male was caught on Monday in a classroom at Sylvania School with a small amount of marijuana.

The student in question was a senior at the school.

Sheriff Welden said of the incident – “Narcotics have no place in our schools…this incident highlights the importance of having a School Resource Office in our schools,” he went on to add “…having law enforcement present to work with educators when these situations arise is a great deterrent to drug use on school grounds.”

Charges and punishment in the case have not yet been determined, and due to the student’s juvenile status his identity will not be released.
