Terry Lee McKinney Found Guilty Of Murder In Connection With The Death And Dismemberment Of Leroy Pete Foster

mckinney-2

Terry Lee McKinney has been convicted of Murder by a Cherokee County jury.

McKinney was charged in connection with the death, and dismemberment, of Leroy “Pete” Foster in March last year (2015).  Foster worked for McKinney as a handyman from time to time.

Its believed that McKinney killed Foster at his residence on Rocky Ford Point Road in Cedar Bluff then dismembered his body with a chainsaw before placing those body parts in plastic bags and tossing them from his car alongside County Road 82.

During testimony Wednesday morning, State Medical Examiner Kathleen Enstice stated that she had performed a forensic examination on the body parts that were sent to her in connection with the case, declaring that, through the use of DNA, it was confirmed that the remains were indeed those of Leroy “Pete” Foster. Dr. Enstice testified that the victim had suffered two bullet wounds to the back along with a shotgun blast to the head, with the official cause of death being multiple gunshot wounds.

The State and Defense presented closing arguments Wednesday afternoon – with Judge Bell then charging the jury with returning a verdict. The Jury deliberated for less than an hour before returning a guilty verdict. Attorneys for McKinney requested the Jury be polled and the verdict was unanimous.

Following the reading of the Verdict we spoke with Cherokee County District Attorney Mike O’Dell

Judge Bell has tentatively set a Sentencing Hearing for November 23rd.
