The ADPH Says COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments at County Health Departments are Currently Full

The Alabama Department of Public Health stated Wednesday that all COVID-19 vaccination appointments through county health departments are full.

The ADPH says that they are “aware that the COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline: 1-855-566-5333, is experiencing difficulties,” adding that “…staff members continue working to expand vaccine scheduling capabilities at the call center.”  Callers to the vaccine hotline can supply information to be placed on a waiting list, and they will be contacted as soon as more appointments become available..

The ADPH said demand for the COVID-19 vaccine continues to exceed supply with more than 326,000 healthcare workers, and some 350,000 people in Alabama who qualify for the vaccine because they are 75 and older.  Alabama has received 271,925 vaccine doses and, as of the week ending January 9th – had administered 87,138.  The ADPH launched the vaccination hotline last week and it was quickly overwhelmed with calls, receiving more than 1.1 million in the first 24 hours.

On-line registration is under development but not yet available.
