The National Weather Service Says Another Round Of Severe Weather Is Expected On Thursday

The National Weather Service in Birmingham says that another storm system is expected to move into the Central Alabama area by Thursday morning. Current forecast expectations indicate the possibility of severe thunderstorms to develop that afternoon and track eastward across the state into the evening hours. Tornadoes, damaging winds, and quarter size hail are the primary risks with this storm system.

We will continue to provide updates to the timing and threat area over the next few days as the weather service continues to evaluate the system.

At this time the main threat will be for, Tornadoes, damaging winds up to 60 mph, and quarter size hail, 1-2″ inches of rainfall, though flooding issues should remain isolated and to low-lying or poor drainage areas.

There remains a lot of uncertainty with this system including the exact timing of the event.
