TheatreCentre is proud to present the play “The Miracle Worker” – this Thursday through Saturday (November 20th – 22nd) at the Centre Armory. Director Gary Davis, along with cast member Chad Steed, paid a visit the WEIS Radio studios early Wednesday morning to discuss the upcoming presentation.
This production features Annabelle Hill as Helen Keller and Jordyn Pollard as Ann Sullivan; other cast members include Chad Steed as Keller; Dalton Briant as Doctor; Kelly Turner as Kate; MaKenzie Green as Martha; Ethan Laney as Percy; Ginger Cobia as Aunt Ev; Joel Bishop as James; Ron Belscher as Anagnos; Lana Evans as Viney and Katie Turner, Hayes Johnson, Audrey Green, Ellisan Givens, Braeden Robinson and Abby Lane as Blind Girls; the play is directed by Erin Mulkey.
Pitied and badly spoiled by her parents, Helen is taught no discipline and, by the age of six, grows into a wild, angry, tantrum-throwing child in control of the household.
Desperate, the Kellers hire Anne Sullivan to serve as the governess and the teacher for their daughter. After several fierce battles with Helen, Anne convinces the Kellers that she needs two weeks alone with Helen in order to achieve any progress in the girl’s education. In that time, Annie teaches Helen discipline through persistence and consistency and language through hand signals, a double breakthrough that changes Helen’s life and has a direct effect on the lives of everyone in the family.
