Three Hurt, One Dead in U.S. 11 Wreck in DeKalb County Early Monday Evening

A two-car collision Monday evening on U.S. 11 in DeKalb County claimed the life of a Valley Head woman and left three other people injured.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, that crash occurred at 6:25pm some seven miles north of Hammondville and involved a 2002 Toyota being driven by Jarrod Martin, age 17 from Rising Fawn, Georgia and a 2006 Chevrolet driven by 71 year old Valley Head resident Billy Bailey.

Both Martin and a passenger in his vehicle, Cameron Smith, also 17 from Rising Fawn, were listed as being hurt; Bailey was listed on that report as being injured as well, meanwhile his wife, 71 year old Margaret Bailey was fatally injured.   

No information regarding the condition of Martin, Smith or Billy Bailey was available.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
