An accident involving two motorcycles and a passenger car shutdown a portion of the Chestnut Bypass in front of OK Tire just after 7:00 p.m. Thursday. According to Centre Police one person was taken from the scene to Floyd-Cherokee Medical Center where he was stabilized and then airlifted to a trauma center.
Traffic was at a stand still for an extended period of time. Officers with Centre, Cedar Bluff and Leesburg Police in addition to Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Centre Fire Department and Floyd EMS all responded to the scene.
We will have additional information as soon as the Centre Police Department accident report is complete. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by Centre Police.
