Tillotson Menlo Foundation Awards Grants in Cherokee County

On Monday afternoon (November 20th) Eddie Robertson and Carol Mitchell with the Tillotson Menlo Foundation were in Centre for check presentations to four organizations chosen to receive grant money to fund their projects.

Dustin Dutton was on hand to receive the check on behalf of the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. He said the funds would go toward a low cost spay-neuter program, adoptions, and medicines for sick animals.

Rebecca Holman received the Grant Check for the Cherokee County Museum.

Elaine Henry accepted the check for the Cherokee County Library to renovate the computer lab to better serve older adults using the Library.  

The President of the Public Parks & Recreation Board, Leann Hill, along with Vice President Scooter Howell, Treasurer Jerry Baker and Cherokee Rock Village Park Manager Shannon Mackey were on hand to receive their grant check. The Park Board will utilize the funds to assist with building an observation deck so that many more park patrons, including those with limited mobility, will be able to enjoy the beautiful views from the park.

Mr. Robertson said the Foundation received requests totaling $1.3 million and was able to award $450,000 for projects in northeast Alabama and northwest Georgia.
