Tim Tebow hits two-run homer on first day with St. Lucie Mets

Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images(PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.) — Tim Tebow slugged a two-run homer for the St. Lucie Mets on his first day playing for the team on Wednesday.

Earlier, in his first game against Palm Beach, Tebow got his first hit in his second at-bat.

The former quarterback was promoted Sunday from Class A Columbia.

The 29-year-old signed with the Mets in September. Before that, Tebow won the Heisman Trophy with the Florida Gators in 2007.
