Top Ranked Spring Garden Wins The Class 1A Girls State Championship With A Win Over #2 Ranked Phillips

The Spring Garden Lady Panthers captured their sixth state title in school history, the fifth in Coach Ricky Austin’s tenure.

The top ranked Lady Panthers defeated the #2 ranked Phillips Lady Bears 52-38 at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham on Thursday afternoon.

Point’s leaders for both teams were:

Spring Garden- Tiyonna Rogers (15), Macy Reedy (12)
Phillips- Gracie Hallman (12), Alicyn McCollum & Julianna Taylor (8)

Two Spring Garden players were named to the All-State Tournament Team: Macy Reedy and Tiyonna Rogers who was also crowned tournament MVP

With the win, Spring Garden finishes their 2017-18 campaign with a 32-3 record overall, a Class 1A Area 10 crown, a 1A Girls Northeast Regional Title, and the 2017-18 1A Girls State Title. Phillips season ends at 29-4 and as State Runners-Up.
