Tractor Trailer Fire Shuts Down Portion of I-59 in DeKalb County Overnight

A tractor trailer fire on I-59 in DeKalb County kept emergency personnel busy overnight.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Post at Decatur stated that the big rig was traveling northbound when it caught fire around 9:15pm Thursday, bringing traffic to a halt.

Fortunately, that driver, a 44 year old resident of Houston, Texas managed to get out safely, and no other vehicles were involved.

It’s unclear what caused the blaze.

The incident remains under investigation by state troopers.
