Tractor Trailer Loses Load in Collinsville Wreck on Sunday; Road Blocked for Hours / One Person Receives Minor Injuries / UPDATED

An accident involving a tractor trailer and a passenger car taking place early Sunday, left a section of both Highway 68, and I-59 in Collinsville closed for several hours as a result of the collision – and the truck losing its load.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report,  that wreck took place at approximately 6:00am involving a 2008 Lexus driven by a female resident of Gadsden and a 2020 Kenworth driven by a male from Kinston, North Carolina. 

The driver of the Lexus was transported for the treatment of unspecified injuries and driver of the big rig was unhurt.   The trailer came detached from the cab of the truck and while hanging from the overpass lost its load onto the roadway below.  The truck was hauling fencing.   Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved.

Alabama State Troopers – with Collinsville Police and Collinsville Fire & Rescue units responded to the scene.

That wreck remains under investigation by Troopers.
