The roadway is now open

Traffic is currently blocked in both directions in the 3200 block of West Meighan Boulevard at Hastings Park Roadway following a train/truck accident Friday morning.  As the train was backing up a truck that was sitting on the tracks was hit causing around 50 gallons of diesel fuel to spill in addition to roughly 10 gallons of motor oil.  One person was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Gadsden/Etowah County EMA is on the scene as the accident involves an active fuel spill.

Gadsden Police say commercial traffic should use either I-59 or I-759 – all non-commercial traffic should use Forrest Avenue as an alternate route.

It’s unclear at this time how long that section of roadway will be blocked.
