Traffic Stop Lands Ft Payne Woman in Jail on Drug Charges

A traffic stop conducted by a Ft Payne Police Officer for a simple equipment violation led to a 44 year old Ft Payne woman being arrested on drug charges on Tuesday of this week.

Officer Matthew Jones pulled Morgan Teresa Davis over at approximately 1:50am, and after being given consent to conduct a search of the vehicle Jones recovered a sizeable amount of methamphetamine along with marijuana, smoking pipes, a marijuana grinder, torch lighter and clear plastic baggies.  Davis was placed under arrest and taken to the Ft Payne Police Department, where she was processed and booked without incident – and from there, transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Davis was charged with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, with bond being set at $70,000.

Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum commended Officer Jones for his alert action in making the arrest and taking a sizable amount of drugs off the streets.
