Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Rainsville

DCSO - Wooten,  Jackie M WootenA Ft Payne man landed in jail, after rolling up on a driver’s license checkpoint at the intersection of County Roads 90 and 516 in Rainsville on Tuesday (May 7th) of this week.

The checkpoint, conducted by DeKalb County Deputies, Rainsville Police Officers and Alabama State Troopers was cause for concern for 39 year old Jackie M. Wooten due to what he had in the car and on his person.

A deputy noticed that Wooten appeared to be nervous and asked for consent to search the vehicle

As Wooten was getting out of the car, after giving his consent for the search, a container dropped from his pants; officers found drug paraphernalia inside that container – and things didn’t get any better from there for Wooten.

During the search of the vehicle a bag containing meth was found.

He was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with the unlawful possession of a controlled substance and with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he awaits bond.
