Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges and Recovery of Stolen Vehicle

CCSO - Hernandez

Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson reports that a 31 year old Munford woman is now facing multiple charges, after being pulled over for a simple driving violation on Alabama 21 in Oxford.

April Cherie Hernandez has been charged with Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Obstruction Justice in addition to Receiving Stolen Property – all felonies.

The Anniston Star reports that she was pulled over by a Calhoun County Deputy after he noticed that the Toyota Corolla being driven by Hernandez had no tag lights and she was driving at a rate of speed significantly lower than the limit in the area.

After running the tag number, the deputy discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Heflin; what appeared to be components of an active meth lab were also found inside the car.

Hernandez was taken into custody and then carried to the Calhoun County Jail – with bond being set at $10,000.

She is scheduled to appear in Court on February 3rd.
