Transfer Truck Catches on Fire on U.S. 431 in Etowah County

A transfer truck caught fire while traveling through Etowah County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Alabama State Troopers Post at Jacksonville, a 2003 Kenworth pulled off of the roadway on U.S. 431 just north of Attalla at around 7:15am after the driver, identified as William Martin, Jr. of Quarryville, Pennsylvania – smelled smoke.

After Martin managed to get out of the truck flames erupted and consumed the big rig effectively changing his payload of frozen pies to fried pies.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
