Travel Problems Across Much of Northwest Georgia

Road conditions in Cherokee County, for the most part, seem very good this morning.  Of course, you should be extra cautious in upper elevations, on backroads and on bridges.

Northwest Georgia has been a different story though – with icy spots being reported across much of Floyd County.

In Rome Veteran’s Memorial Highway between Martha Berry and Redmond Road currently has ice in both directions.  There are also icy spots on the connector between Highway 53 and the Braves Stadium, as well as on Highway 53 north of Highway 140.  Ice has also been reported on Redmond in front of the hospital and at Division Street.  Other locations with minor travel problems included Wax Road in Silver Creek, some areas in Texas Valley, Kingston Highway, Old Dalton Road and parts of Highway 411.  Floyd County E-911 is reporting that Rockmart Highway, Industrial near Georgia Highlands College, Sherwood Forest and Wilshire Road are problem areas along with many secondary roads.

We also have this information all for those traveling to work in Summerville Lyerly or other nearby areas:

Again motorists should exercise caution during the early morning hours, give yourself extra time to get where you’re going and arrive safely.
