Trion City Schools Placed On Lockdown After A Sixth-Grade Student Was Found With A Pistol In His Backpack

Trion City Schools went on lockdown of its campus at approximately noon Monday when a sixth-grade student was found to have an unloaded pistol in his backpack.

The Trion Police and The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Dept. were called and responded with the sheriff and deputies and the school system’s resource officer. The law enforcement officers searched lockers, interviewed students, and had deputies stationed in the hallways.

The student with the unloaded weapon has been arrested. Trion City Schools followed their school system safety protocol as a precautionary measure. The school system was taken off of lockdown by 1:00 PM.

Trion schools said they appreciated the quick response of both The Trion Police Dept. and The Chattooga County S.O.

The student is being turned over to Juvenile Justice and the investigation is continuing with both Trion Police Dept. and Chattooga County S.O.
