Tropical Storm Cindy Forms In The Gulf Of Mexico, How Will It Affect The Weiss Lake Area? Details Here.

Tropical Storm Cindy has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and there is still quite a bit of uncertainty as to the timing and movement of this system. But there is increasing confidence that deep tropical moisture will stream into the area later this week. It is possible that we could see multiple rounds of very heavy rain, which may result in both flash and river flooding. There is also the possibility that we could see a few strong to severe storms mixed in but confidence in those storms is much lower.

The exact timing of the impacts remains uncertain at this time.

Warnings/Watches/Advisories: None at this time.

Impact 1: Flash/River Flooding

  • Multiple rounds of very heavy rain could lead to instances of flash and river flooding
  • Rainfall amounts upwards of 5 inches are expected from Thursday through early next week with this system
  • Depending on the exact track higher rainfall amounts are possible

Impact 2: Strong to Severe storms

  • There is a window Thursday – Friday where we could see a few strong to severe storms
  • As is the case with tropical systems there is potential for a weak tornado
  • Still some uncertainty and confidence in overall severe threat is lower
