Trump to Meet with Progressive Democrat Tulsi Gabbard and Rick Perry

ABC News(NEW YORK) — Nearly two weeks since winning the presidency, Donald Trump is ensconced in Trump Tower on New York City’s Fifth Avenue as he continues work to fill top posts in his incoming administration and Cabinet.

He plans to meet Monday with Gov. Rick Perry, a former presidential candidate who is a possible contender for a position in the Cabinet, sources tell ABC News.

He’ll also meet with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, a top progressive Democrat who was a prominent supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and has bucked her party on foreign affairs.

Meetings are also planned with Newt Gingrich, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, and Elaine Chao, who was labor secretary in the George W. Bush administration and is the wife of Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Trump held 21 meetings in two days in New Jersey over the weekend, including with Hollywood power broker Ari Emanuel as well as the founder of Black Entertainment Television, Robert Johnson.

Trump aides have teased a possible announcement of a pick for a national security-related post Monday. The transition team is also rolling out Trump’s economic “landing team,” whose members will work with the Obama administration’s Treasury and Commerce Departments to prepare for the transition of power.
