Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox Visits Cherokee County To Announce His Bid For Governor

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox was in Cherokee County on Thursday to officially announce that he is running for Alabama governor in 2018.

Maddox stopped by the WEIS studios on Thursday afternoon to talk about some of the hot topic items he will addressing on the campaign trail, one of those being the support of first responders across the state –

Maddox addressed a group of supporters in Centre at the Chamber of Commerce banquet room on Thursday evening and spoke on a number of issues there including the current state of healthcare in Alabama –

Along with Maddox, former Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb is running for the Democratic nomination. 

On the Republican side, Gov. Kay Ivey has announced plans to seek a full-term. Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Birmingham evangelist Scott Dawson, state corrections officer Stacy George, state Sen. Bill Hightower of Mobile, Birmingham businessman Joshua Jones and Agriculture Commissioner John McMillan are also seeking the GOP nomination.
