Two Accidents on Highway 68 Near Sand Rock on Saturday

A pair of two-vehicle accidents took place on Saturday near Sand Rock.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident reports, the first occurred shortly after 3:30pm on Highway 68, and involved a 2004 Toyota being driven by 71 year old Myra Gaines of Centre; Gaines was unhurt; however a passenger in the vehicle identified as Linda Headrick of Centre, was listed as being injured.   

The driver of the other vehicle involved, reportedly a 15 year old juvenile in a 2009 Lincoln, also escaped injury.  The cause of the accident, which took place around three miles west of Sand Rock, remains under investigation.

The second accident was also on Highway 68, this one occurring just after 6:30pm.

According to reports, no one in that mishap required medical treatment.

The Sand Rock Fire Department, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad – in addition to Alabama State Troopers responded to both locations.
