Two Arrested After Assaulting 15 Year Old Sylvania School Student Wednesday Morning

According to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, a 19 year old and a 16 year old were both charged with assaulting a 15 year old boy while he attempted to board a bus at Sylvania School on Wednesday morning.

Officials say that incident occurred around 9:30 as students were getting on the bus to go to the tech school.  Sheriff Nick Welden says that’s when the victim was confronted by 19 year old Wesley Ray Baker and a 16 year old juvenile, and was assaulted.  Welden added that the suspects had been smoking marijuana earlier that morning.

The pair fled on foot and a deputy later found them at a location on County Road 121 where they were taken into custody and charged with Assault 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass, and Public Intoxication.  Baker was charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor as well.

Sheriff Welden said neither Baker nor the 16 year old attended Sylvania School, with Baker being home schooled and the 16 year old having recently withdrawn from Plainview School

No additional information regarding the situation is being made available at this time.
