Two Arrested After Crashing into Hokes Bluff City Hall Sunday Morning

Two men were taken into custody, after crashing a vehicle into Hokes Bluff City Hall, during the early morning hours of Sunday.

According to Hokes Bluff Police Chief Mitchell Hill, the series of events began with the crash occurring about 4:00am; the driver somehow managed to get the vehicle out of the building and drove away – but didn’t get far as the vehicle was later found stuck in a wooded area off Carnes Street.

henry-yeager-cloughpng-8231eb212e2764c5Chief Hill said one of the men, later identified as 40 year old Henry Yeager Clough went into a home on Joel Street where he was confronted by a woman armed with a handgun, and the woman, who was home with her children, attempted to shoot the intruder however the gun misfired.

Clough fled, then went to a nearby home where an 18-wheeler was parked in the yard – and he then crawled into the sleeper compartment, where he was arrested a short time later;

No one was hurt at city hall or any other points of activity according to police reports; Chief Hill said video surveillance footage indicated that the pair rammed the car into the building on purpose – although neither man would say why.

Clough has been charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and the Breaking & Entering of a Motor Vehicle meanwhile Tanner was charged with Drug Possession, Driving Under the Influence, and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree.
