Two Arrested In Connection To A Shooting In Rome

On Wednesday October 10, 2018, the Rome Police Department was requested by an E911 call to investigate a shooting that occurred in the parking lot located at 440 Shorter Avenue in Rome, Georgia. Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 06:46 Rome Police were dispatched to a shots fired call in the area of Mt. Alto Plaza shopping center. A resident in the area reported hearing several gun shots in the area. When officers responded they found a male subject lying on the ground. The male victim is identified as 43-year-old Sigmund Deaslo White. Mr. White was shot in the back. Officers administered aid until EMS personnel arrived to take over. Mr. White was transported to Floyd Medical Center where he underwent surgery. The last report on the victim’s condition was that he was stable.

The offenders were not present at the scene when officers arrived. Criminal Investigators arrived and collected crime scene evidence. The victim was cooperative with investigators and provided information that led them to a location on Burnett Ferry Road. The offenders were located in a red truck and arrested at about 1130 am this same date. The suspects are as follows:

Nicole Lynn Hill, DOB 02/25/1983, White, Female

Michael Wade Hastings, DOB 10/13/1989, White, Male

Ms. Hill had an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant on a previous drug charge. More charges in this case are pending. Mr. Hastings is charged with Aggravated Assault with more charges possible.
