Two Arrested In Leesburg For Drug Trafficking

Tips from concerned citizens led to the arrest of two people on drug trafficking charges.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, officers with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division followed up on the tips about possible drug activity occurring at a campground in Leesburg.

Investigators Matt Peek and Shawn Rogers observed the suspect’s vehicle and identified the two occupants as 48-year old James William Allred of Leesburg and 44-year old Willie Guy Rines of Vina, Alabama.

Investigators found a large amount of crystal methamphetamine along with numerous small baggies pre-packaged for re-sale, several items of drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash in their possession.

Allred and Rines are charge with trafficking illegal drugs and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and are being held pending a bond hearing.
