Two Arrested on Charges of Burglary and Theft of Property / Boat, Tools and Other Items Recovered

Saturday, April 14th the Centre Police Department received a report that a boat, tools and a variety of other items had been stolen from a residence on East Main Street; that, according to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship.

An investigation was launched into that matter and Centre Police Investigator Leigha Blake, with assistance from Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Tony Monroy and Brian Gilliland, quickly developed information that led to recovery of the stolen merchandise, and two individuals being charged in connection with the case.

Andrew Fountain age 36 of Leesburg was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center April 18th on the charges of Burglary 3rd Degree, and Theft of Property 1st Degree.

Joey Shropshire, age 41 of a Centre address, had those charges added to his record – he was already in jail, having been arrested on the night of the 14th on three counts of Discharging a Gun into an Occupied Building and on one count of Persons Forbidden to be in Possession of a Firearm.

Both men currently remain in the Detention Center – with bond for Fountain set at $14,000 and for Shropshire set at $45,000.

Chief Blankenship would like to commend Investigator Blake for her excellent work on this case and express his appreciation to Sheriff’s Office Investigators Monroy and Gilliland for their assistance in this multi-agency operation.
