According to information from Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum, two people were placed under arrest, following an investigation into possible drug activity, at a home located at 101 38th Street Southwest.
Last Friday, at around 7:20pm, Ft Payne Police Officers, and members of the DeKalb County Drug Task Force arrived at the residence and spoke with Sonya Marie Gonzalez; it was soon determined that she had marijuana in the home.
She refused to allow law enforcement officials to conduct a search of the premises, without a warrant; a search warrant was soon obtained, and the officers located drug paraphernalia inside the home; they also found a bag containing a white, crystal like substance outside the back door.
That substance field tested positive for the form of meth known as “ICE” Both Gonzalez and a male occupant of the home, later identified as Anthony Brown, were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
According to the report, there were also two young children at the residence – and DHR was contacted on their behalf.
Both Gonzalez and Brown remain behind bars awaiting setting of bond.
