Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Search of Gadsden Hotel Room

Two individuals are currently facing drug related charges in Etowah County; that according to Commander Randall Johnson.  Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Agents executed a search warrant at an area hotel room, based upon prior drug activity from the business.

During that search those agents recovered suspected methamphetamine, suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia and approximately $900 in U.S. currency.

William Alvin Brown, age 27 of Gadsden was charged with five counts of the distribution of a controlled substance, with three counts of the possession of controlled substance, felony possession of salvia and possession of drug paraphernalia; 31 year old Jami Jakawla Wright of Gadsden was charged with one count of the distribution of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of salvia, and with  possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brown was out on bond when agents arrested him at the hotel – and he is currently being housed in the Etowah County Detention Center without bond.

Wright was arrested and released from the Etowah County Detention Center on an $11,500 bond.

This investigation is on-going and additional charges could be forthcoming.

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Gadsden Police Department, Alabama National Guard Counterdrug Program and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force participated in the case.
