Leesburg Police Make Multiple Arrests on Monday

Cherokee Drug BustLeesburg Police Officer Joe Johnson made five arrests on Monday – two on drug charges and three for shoplifting.

Johnathan Ray Butler, age 27, and Pamela Ann Bennett, age 36, both of Leesburg, were each charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center around 8:30pm.

SHOP 4Stephanie Diane McGatha, 33; Tammy Carol Gowens, age 46; and Ann McClung Battles, age 65, were each charged with Theft of Property 3rd Degree after allegedly being caught in the act of shoplifting at the Leesburg location of Dollar General.

All three were booked into jail around 6:00pm – with all three being released about 9:00pm after making bond, set at $500 each.

Leesburg Police Chief Lanny Ransum commended Officer Johnson for his outstanding work in waging war on drugs, and all crime, in the town of Leesburg.
