Two Confirmed Dead Following A Two Vehicle Accident In Centre Friday Night

Two people have died following a two vehicle accident in Centre on Friday night.

According to reports the accident occurred at approximately 8:11 pm, at the intersection of Chestnut Bypass and East Main Street in front of O’Reilly Auto Parts.

According to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, Jerry Cox, Sr. Age 82 of Centre was pronounced dead on scene by Chief Deputy Paul D McDonald.

Patricia Cox, age 81 of Centre, Mr. Cox’s wife, was taken to an area trauma center where she died as a result of her injuries.

Both subjects died from apparent multiple blunt force trauma and the manner of death is currently under investigation by the Coroner’s office.

The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office and Centre Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.

Floyd EMS, Centre Fire Department, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Centre Police, and the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office all responded to the scene.
