Two Former Chattooga County Law Enforcement Officials Now Behind Bars

Two former Chattooga County law enforcement officers found themselves behind bars over the weekend after a Chattooga County Grand Jury indicted the pair for being involved with illegal drugs.  36 year old former Summerville Police Officer Matt Craig and 29 year old Kenneth Martin, a former Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office Deputy were both arrested and jailed for violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.

The GBI led an investigation into the actions of the two former officers – who stand accused of being in possession of illegal steroids.  The investigation was launched after Trion Police were called to a domestic incident involving Martin and his wife.  Martin was serving as a School Resource Officer at Chattooga High – and has since resigned his position.  A GBI investigation determined that Martin and Craig were conspiring together; in addition to that Controlled Substance charge, both men were charged with giving false statements to the GBI.
