Two Former Southside Police Officers Arrested On Rape Charges

Two former officers with the Southside Police Department are in the Etowah County Jail after being arrested on charges of 1st Degree Rape.

According to Southside Police Chief Chris Jones, his department received information on Nov. 21 regarding allegations of criminal misconduct against Officers Brian Edward Walker and Jonathan Perry Works.

Both officers were placed on Administrative leave and later resigned. The investigation was turned over to the State Bureau of Investigations and last week an Etowah County Grand Jury returned indictments against the two.

Walker and Works face a charge of first-degree rape. Works is being held on $100,000 bond, Walker on $50,000 bond.
