Two Ft Payne Men Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine

Two Ft Payne men have been charged with trafficking meth in Etowah County, according to Deputy Commander Phil Sims.

According to Sims on February 1st agents had received information that methamphetamine was being delivered by two individuals from Ft Payne to a grocery store on Highway 411 in Etowah County.  Agents set up surveillance and observed as the pair pulled into the parking lot in a black truck.  As law enforcement approached that vehicle one of the men – later identified as 23 year old Rodriqueaz Thompson, exited the driver’s side and ran.  Following a short chase Thompson was apprehended in a field on Highway 411.   Afterwards agents recovered approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine from the truck he’d had been driving.

Both Thompson an Da’Quon Adams, age 23 – are currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center under surety bonds of $50,000 each.  According to Deputy Commander Sims, the investigation is on-going and additional charges could be forthcoming, both state and federal, in relation to the drugs seized.

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama National Guard Counterdrug Program and FBI Safe Streets Task Force all took part in the case.
