Two Fugitives From Texas Arrested in Cedar Bluff Monday Afternoon

Two Texas fugitives were taken into custody Monday afternoon by Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Sheriff’s Office Investigators and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.  The two were taken into custody at a residence in Cedar Bluff.

Both 22 year old Steven Gaige Hammock and Kayanda Tatum Jackson, age 19, are currently wanted by law enforcement in the Austin, Texas area; Hammock on a charge of Aggravated Robbery and Jackson for Aggravated Assault.  

They were transported by Cedar Bluff Police from the scene to the County Detention Center where they await extradition back to Texas.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver stated that he appreciates the solid relationship between the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshal’s Service.
