Two Gaylesville Residents Arrested on Drug Charges in Rome

Waffle 1Two Gaylesville residents were arrested on drug charges in Rome Sunday night.

Rome Police spotted a blue Nissan Sentra coming from what the officers called a “residence known for drugs” and followed the vehicle as it turned onto Shorter Avenue.

The car first pulled into the Burger King parking lot – then turned around and went into the parking lot of the Waffle House.

Officers asked the occupants of the vehicle why they had turned into the lot – and were told by the two that they were simply going to get something to eat. When an officer asked if he could search the car, he was told “No.” Another officer soon arrived on the scene, and after determining that he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the car, began a search of the vehicle.

Police reportedly discovered a bag and a jar containing marijuana inside the glove box, and a red and black glass smoking device.

Matthew Vaughn Herrin and Dylan Chase Mitchell, both age 18, were each charged with the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Drug-related Objects.
