Two Georgia Residents Hurt in County Road 16 Wreck Overnight / UPDATED

Units with McCords Fire Department, Floyd EMS, and Cherokee County Rescue Squad responded to reports of a single vehicle rollover in the 5900 block of County Road 16 during the early morning hours of Friday.

Upon arrival McCords Fire Department Assistant Chief Barry Rogers, Jr. reported two people being hurt with at least one of those being critically injured, and both patients being entrapped in the vehicle.

Fire Department and Rescue Squad personnel immediately went to work to extricate the two victims; according to McCords Fire Chief Rich Lindsey, an EMS helicopter was called to the scene for one of the patients; however they had to abort the flight due to mechanical complications.  One patient was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia by Redmond EMS while the other was taken by Floyd EMS.  

That crash took place at 1:45am.  According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report both occupants were residents of Cartersville, Georgia.

The Cherokee County EMA and Alabama State Troopers also responded to the scene.

That wreck remains under investigation by troopers.  

McCords Fire Department Chief Rich Lindsey wished to commend both Rescue Squad personnel and personnel from his department who exemplified great teamworking skills to perform a complex rescue quickly and safely
