Two Injured in Sunday Afternoon ATV Accident / UPDATED

One teenager was air-lifted for treatment and another transported by ambulance following a four-wheeler accident off County Road 31 on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports – the Piedmont Rescue Squad responded to that accident south of Ellisville, shortly after 4:00pm, and they arrived on the scene to find two injured parties – one sixteen years old and one fifteen years of age.

According to family members, the four-wheeler actually belonged to the passenger – sixteen year old Courtney Law, and the fifteen year old was the driver.  Courtney’s mother told WEIS Radio News that both girls were knocked unconscious when the accident occurred and they had been at the scene for about an hour before coming to and calling for help.

A helicopter was called in and landed near Goshen Church, with Courtney then being air-lifted to the trauma unit at UAB, meanwhile the fifteen year old was taken by ambulance to Gadsden Regional for treatment.

Both girls received concussions, as well as scrapes and bruises – Courtney also suffered a broken nose and a broken toe; the fifteen year old had no broken bones.

Both are now back at home, doing well and recovering from the spill.
