Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured, in a head-on collision taking place Tuesday afternoon in Cherokee County.

The crash occurred on Highway 411 North at County Road 113, approximately eight miles out of Centre with the emergency call going out at approximately 12:20pm.

A 2002 Ford Mustang driven by 48 year old Centre resident Terry LeCroy – collided with a 2013 Chevrolet being driven by 49 year old Lisa Mackey of Sand Rock; LeCroy was pronounced dead at the scene, meanwhile Mackey was transported by ambulance to Redmond Regional in Rome – and then transferred to Erlanger – where, according to family members – she is currently listed in critical condition.

According to the Alabama State Trooper accident report, a passenger in the Mustang, 17 year old Carrie LeCroy, was transported by ambulance to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, for treatment of her injuries.

A second passenger, 50 year old Teresa Ann Hicks of Adairsville, Georgia, was fatally injured in the collision.

Initially attempts were made to arrange for helicopter transport from the scene of that crash – but that was impossible due to weather conditions at the time.

That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers
