Two Men Arrested For Harboring A Sex Offender And Failing To Register

Two men have been arrested in connection to harboring a sex offender and failing to register, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Investigator Stephen McGlathery said that 21 year old Cameron Wade Wheeler of Boaz was arrested and charged with harbor a sex offender, which is a felony.

Wheeler allegedly provided a place for James Thomas Bowman, a registered sex offender with Etowah County, to stay in an attempt to avoid law enforcement officers. 

Investigators were at a residence located on Mountainview Drive in Attalla in an attempt to find Bowman who had a felony warrant against him for failing to comply with the sex offender registration notification act (SORNA).

McGlathery said that 39 year old James Thomas Bowman of Attalla, was arrested and charged with one count of failure to comply with SORNA, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

Wheeler was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $2,500 bond.  Bowman is detained on a $3,000 bond.
